Introducing Café Mélange
Tucked away in the heart of Dover, Café Mélange was established in 2020 with a simple but heartfelt vision: to bring the warmth, flavour, and easy elegance of the Mediterranean to the Kent coast. From the very beginning, this small, family-run café and restaurant has been about more than just food — it has been about atmosphere, hospitality, and creating a space where people feel genuinely at home.
Café Mélange is intentionally intimate. We are not a large, bustling chain restaurant, nor do we aspire to be. Our charm lies in our scale — cosy tables, welcoming smiles, and a relaxed rhythm that encourages guests to slow down and savour the moment. Whether you join us for a morning coffee, a leisurely lunch, or an evening meal with friends and family, you will find an environment that feels personal, warm, and thoughtfully curated.
Our inspiration comes from across the Mediterranean basin. The name “Mélange” reflects exactly what we love to do: blend influences, traditions, and flavours into something harmonious and inviting. Our menu carries subtle nods to the rustic kitchens of France, the sun-kissed coasts of Italy, and the vibrant spirit of Spain, alongside influences from many other Mediterranean regions. Each dish is crafted to celebrate freshness, simplicity, and authenticity — the core pillars of Mediterranean cooking.
Freshness is at the heart of everything we serve. We prepare our dishes using high-quality, carefully selected ingredients, and wherever possible we prioritise freshness above all else. Our food is made in-house, from scratch, with care and attention. We believe that homemade food carries something you simply cannot replicate on an industrial scale: soul.
